More Hello Kitty!

First one is of the Hello Kitty Maternity Hospital in Taiwan—

“Taiwan’s Hello Kitty Maternity Hospital is now open. The hospital can accommodate 30 patients who can enjoy the Hello Kitty décor on everything including the walls, baby bassinets and nurses’ uniforms. Newborn babies born at the Hello Kitty hospital are gifted their own set of whiskers, and Hello Kitty receiving blankets in pink or blue. Small gift, big smile!” (sanrio.com/newsandevents)

Now you know where to find me when I’m giving birth to my future children..lol.

Second one is from the Tokyo Nail Expo. I love Hello Kitty and all but that’s a little too extreme for me. I do give the nail artist props though…very creative!

“Sanrio is teaming up with pro-skateboarder Mike Carroll to create a Hello Kitty x Girl skateboard deck! The supercute collaboration will launch this year.”
Hello Kitty on skateboards? I suddenly have the urge to learn how to skateboard now…haha.

“The key to a woman’s heart is an unexpected gift at an unexpected time” -Forrester

I just watched Finding Forrester for the first time and I can`t help it when I say that that the quote above was my favorite line throughout the entire movie. Gosh, I’m such a sucker for those romantic/cheesy/heartwarming quotes..tehe.

Anyway, Jamal is definitely a character you learn to love more and more as the story develops. A basketball superstar with remarkable writing skills and a passion for literature? How can you NOT love the guy? He is a stud.

My favorite couple!<3 ahh they are too cute together.

my childhood dream: ___________________

So I’ve really been enjoying my hybrid advertising class. Our online posting assignment this week was to write about our favorite and most memorable advertisement. The other day we learned about why/how celebrity spokespeople are chosen for certain advertisements and the use of serious and/or humorous ads. Here’s a snippet of my online posting about Ellen Degeneres’ American Express commericial with animals. I loves it.

In her American Express commercial, Ellen Degeneres definitely shows her friendly and humorous side as she interacts with her animal co-workers in the office. She cracks jokes and constantly keeps the audience chuckling from beginning to end of the commercial. At the end, the American Express emblem appears along with the text, ‘My childhood dream: to work with animals’. Also, Ellen quotes, “My life is far from ordinary, that’s why my card is American Express”.

I believe that this humorous American Express card advertisement is truly effective because it makes a bold statement. I think that they were brave and daring when creating this commercial because you don’t see many ads displaying a gang of animals the way they did. If produced incorrectly, the audience would misinterpret it as some sort of a zoo advertisement. However, this American Express commercial conveys creativity and childhood dreams that are out of the ordinary. We’ve all had childhood dreams that include animals, which allows us to easily relate to Ellen and her childhood dream. The commercial fills the audience with glee and is reminiscent of a happy image of our childhood. So when we think of the American Express credit card, we are unconsciously reminded of these positive memories, attracting us to the brand. A successful advertisement, I must say.
